Fall 2023 Co-op Term Update

Greetings from H2O Geomatics!

We are thrilled to introduce our two new co-op students for the fall term: Sam and Andrew. Its an exciting time as we welcome fresh talent eager to contribute

their skills and enthusiasm to our dynamic team.

Let us introduce Sam, who is no stranger to H2O Geomatics, having previously worked with our team during the winter term. Sam is currently pursuing his studies at the University of Waterloo, and during his co-op terms there, he actively collaborated on several interdisciplinary research projects. He leverages his expertise in computer science, data science, and machine learning to conduct research in environmental modeling for hydrological and atmospheric sciences.

At H2O Geomatics, Sam has taken a leading role in a research initiative, where he is

spearheading the development of deep learning approaches for ice cover forecasting.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that during this co-op term, Sam will collaborate with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting, based in Reading, UK, to enhance their existing ice-cover forecasting models by incorporating the snow-cover effect. We appreciate Sam's past contributions and look forward to his continued valuable insights during this fall term. Welcome back, Sam!

Now, let's welcome Andrew, our newest co-op addition. Andrew is a dedicated student at the University of Waterloo, pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering. He brings a strong passion for math, programming, and the latest technology trends to H2O Geomatics. In addition to his studies, Andrew has participated in math and coding contests and has developed various coding projects, including a Minesweeper game with a GUI, an OCR Sudoku solver, and Random Number Generators. We're confident that Andrew's academic excellence and creative problem-solving skills will make him a valuable asset to our team during this co-op term.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Sam and Andrew. We're excited to have them on board as we embark on exciting projects, share knowledge, and foster an environment of growth and innovation.

Stay tuned for more updates on our co-op students' journey with H2O Geomatics. It's going to be an amazing semester!

Welcome, Sam and Andrew, to the H2O Geomatics family!
