H2O Geomatics is a research spin-off from the University of Waterloo. The company uses state-of-the-art remote sensing technologies to turn Earth Observation (EO) data into products and information tailored to meet end-user needs in various application domains and industries. H2O Geomatics is also conducting R & D activities on deep learning algorithms to handle big EO datasets as well as early warning systems for climate-dependent sectors such as agriculture and water resources management.
Founder and Scientic Advisor
Claude received his PhD in Geography (remote sensing and climatology) from the University of Waterloo, MA in Geography (GIS) from SUNY at Buffalo, and BSc in Geography (physical geography) from the Université de Montréal. He is Professor and Research Chair at the University of Waterloo. Over the last 25 years, he has conducted research and taught several courses on topics related to geospatial data processing and analytics (GIS, environmental modelling, remote sensing and statistics). Claude provides scientific guidance on projects conducted at H2O Geomatics.
Kyung-Kuk (Kevin) Kang
Co-Founder, Director of UAV Operations
Kevin received his PhD in Geography (remote sensing) from the University of Waterloo, MSc. in Earth System Sciences (remote sensing/geology) from Yonsei University, South Korea, and BSc in Geology (environmental geochemistry) from Kyungpook National University, South Korea. In addition to his UAV (drone) operations management responsibilities, he is also contributing to the application of data analytics techniques for the processing of large Earth Observation datasets.
H2O Geomatics' support team consists of geospatial data scientists, deep learning specialists, computer programmers and certified commercial drone pilots.
